Mark Field and John S. Mays, Ph.D., PMP are joining the Board for their first three-year terms and Kathy Barany, PHR, R. Stephen Rosenholm and Catherine Syhre will be serving vacated, unexpired terms.
 
Susan Horn, President and CEO of Hiscock Legal Aid says, “We are excited to welcome these five new Board members who bring such diverse skills and experience to our organization.”
 
 
Kathy Barany has been a human resources consultant since 2001, with more than 30 years of experience with virtually all industries including education, financial services, manufacturing, medical, non-profit, and retail. Ms. Barany is a member of the Central New York Chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management and the Central New York Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development. Her community involvement includes: serving as Chair of the Child Care Solutions Personnel Committee; as a member of the Vocational Educational Services for Individuals with Disability Advisory and BOCES Projects With Industry Boards; and on the Baltimore Woods Nature Center Personnel Committee.
 

Mark H. Field is Senior Vice President – Investment Officer at Wells Fargo Advisors LLC. He is very active in the community and has served as past President of the Jewish Community Center, past President of Temple Beth El. Chair of the community wide Israeli Bonds drive and as a former member of the Boards of the Jewish Home of Central New York, Congregation Beth Sholom-Chevra Shas, the Urban League and the Inter-Religious Council. Mr. Field is a Board Member of the Jewish Federation of Central New York. He was the 2008 recipient of the Esther & Joseph Roth Award for Outstanding Jewish Communal Leadership, the prestigious H. Hiram Weisberg Young Leadership Award, and he and his wife, Susan, were awarded the Shomer Award.

 
John Mays founded Dr. John Consulting in 2003 to share his vast expertise in information technology and project management. His experience with higher education includes serving as an Adjunct Professor and Visiting Assistant Professor at the School of Business and the Graduate School at SUNY Oswego, and as Interim Director of Information Processing Services for the Computer Task Group and Vice President for Planning and Technology Advancement at Onondaga Community College. He has worked in the private sector as Manager in the Program Management Office at the Turning Stone Casino Resort, as Project Officer at Keane, Inc in Boston, MA, and as a Manager in the Engineering & CAD Unit at Lockheed Martin. Dr. Mays is a Past VP and Executive Committee Member of the Board of Directors of the Technology Development Organization and Past President, member of the Professional Awards Advisory Group, and Component Mentor of the Project Management Institute.
 
 
R. Stephen Rosenholm is an attorney at Hiscock & Barclay in Syracuse where his areas of practice include Patents and Prosecution and Intellectual Property Litigation. While attending George Washington University Law School, Mr. Rosenholm served as a patent examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to private practice with IP firms in New York and Massachusetts, he worked in computer software/hardware development as a member of the technical staff for Bell Telephone Laboratories and as a consultant for businesses including Digital Equipment Corporation, GTE, Hewlett Packard, and Honeywell. Mr. Rosenholm is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
 
 
Cathy Syhre brings 40 years of experience in insurance claims management to her position as the sole proprietor of CCS Consulting which offers assistance with claims handling and management, litigation, creative resolutions and risk transfer. Ms. Syhre worked for a number of independent and national insurance companies in California and she retired from her position as Construction Corporate Claim manager at St Paul Insurance in 2004. In 2003, she was one of a group of volunteers in Orange County, CA who began Project HOPE, a county-run school designed to help children without permanent homes transition into the mainstream educational system. About 3 years ago, Ms. Syhre moved to Central New York to be close to her family and for the past several months she has been volunteering at Hiscock Legal Aid, providing the Development Office with valuable assistance in prospect research and fundraising efforts.
 
Continuing as officers of the Board of Directors are: Richard C. Engel, Chair; Stanfort J. Perry, Chair-Elect; Suzanne O. Galbato, Vice Chair; and Joseph P. Hardick, Secretary-Treasurer.
