The Hiscock Legal Aid Society has received a generous grant from Excellus BlueCross BlueShield in support of its Cancer Legal Advocacy and Services Project (CLASP).
The CLASP program, begun by Hiscock Legal Aid in 2006, provides a full range of free professional legal services to low-income cancer patients in Onondaga County and beyond. Such services range from preparing health care proxies and powers of attorney to arranging for custody or guardianship of a cancer patient’s young children.
Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Regional President Dr. Arthur P. Vercillo noted that the grant is consistent with its corporate commitment to partner with local entities that can “help to make health care delivery more affordable, more accessible and of high quality.” In accepting the gift, Hiscock Legal Aid President and CEO Susan R. Horn praised Excellus BlueCross BlueShield for its myriad contributions to improving the health of our community.
